2768 (4 Turns): 2005-2008 Ford F-250 to F-350 Pickup Trucks Steering Gear

My son brought my 2005 Ford F250 to American Tire & Auto Service in Boise, Idaho to replace the Carrier Bearing, Redhead Steering Gear 2768 & Pitman Arm.

It made a huge difference and I am so impressed with the Redhead Steering Gear 2768 performance, worth every dollar to have this done.

Just for full disclosure my truck only has a 4” lift and 35x12.5R17 tires. Before this my power steering pump and lines were replaced. The new gearbox went in and I’ve had nothing but issues. Intermittent loss of steering assist and super wide turn radius. The whole front end has been rebuilt and there is still the same amount of slack as the original one that was in the truck. For the price, save your money and just get an oem one. Customer service is top notch but that’s where the quality ended. Very disappointed.

I bought a Redhead for my 06 F250 with 37s when I was building it over a years time. By the time I got the truck on the road my warranty was already expired. Not even 6000 miles later the slop was worse than the factory box I replaced. I had one about 10 years ago on my 01 F250 and it worked great. Hopefully I just got a bad box. I am thinking about getting the heavier duty one but not sure if I want to drop a grand if it ends up like the current one.

Once installed it was a perfected upgrade.  The RedHead Steering Gears 2768 Steering Box (4-Bolt Cover) 2005-2008 Ford F-250/350 (Built Before 7/30/07) only lasted 1 yr and 8 months before I could begin to feel it going out.  Unfortunately, the warranty is only for 12months.  I may just try my luck with another RedHead.

My old box was the culprit.  I replaced all front end parts from ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link and torsion bar,,,,,  Still had the wanders.   Slapped in a Rehead 2768 and BAM I drive like a normal person!

Bought a lifted truck had play in steering at 70k replaced with redhead worked awesome for 4 months had an issue they sent a new one right away and have no had any issues in the past 6-7 months. Very happy with customer service and definitely better then stock box..

As a custom builder of cars, trucks , Red head are the real deal. Took the swaggering  curb to curb out of my excursion plus my Shop truck always had a hard turn with 295 wranglers. We swapped pumps ,lines box and still it would stall. We ordered a Red Head. Totally gone !  These are just simply the best. Don’t waste your time with  part store replacements. You only get what you pay for. Well worth every penny I spent.

I have to say this gearbox is better than when new. Definitely worth the money. My truck feels like a totally different vehicle. Well done redhead.  Top notch in my opinion.

2005 F250-I ordered a box and it was defective. Redhead stood behind their product and sent me a replacement next day delivery.  I could not ask for better customer service, as they worked with me until we got my truck back 100%. Great product and even better communication with me till the end. Thank you.

Absolutely the best modification I've done to date. I have now decided to keep my Truck saving at least $50,000 over buying a new one.
