2879 (3 Turns): 2003-2008 Dodge 1500-3500 Pickup Trucks Steering Gear

I bought a Red Head steering gear in 2018 to replace my leaking OEM. For the last few years I have been chasing what I thought was a suspension problem only to figure out it is the input shaft on the steering gear. It is finally so loose I can rattle it with my fingers. The truck has only 140k on the odometer. I’d guess this one lasted about 50k before the problem started and it’s driving me nuts at about 70k of use. The vibration through the steering wheel greatly reduces the driving experience. It is a stock height, stock rim, slightly larger than stock, Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 dually, mostly used for vacation towing. Redhead is not interested in a repair. Only a full price replacement. Arguably, it is nearly 7 years old.

I purchased this gearbox a little over 2 years ago to replace the OEM with 250k miles on it.  I mostly use the truck for towing the boat to and from the lake on the weekends (about 10 miles round trip).  I just took it on one road trip to Florida (1k mile round trip) and the gear box blew the seal out of the head with less than 10k miles on it.  I expected a quality product like read head to be able to last for much longer.

i bought a red head steering gear box  after my oem  went bad , i have less than 60 k miles  it has started leaking on the pitman arm bushing . i do not do  any  mudding and only run 285 70r 17 at on the truck. i am trying to find my paper work on any warranties.

I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel that I bought used 4th owner had to replace everything in the front end and went with a Red Head steering box. I now have over 300,000 miles on the box with hardly any sign of wear. I plan on upgrading to their bigger box in the future. Thanks for making a product that is reliable.

2006 Ram 2500 5.9 4x4 - Truck drives better than new. Tool about 4 hours to install myself. Used a cononical pitman puller ($44) and got the pitman off in 5 minutes.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the great quality and workmanship you did on the steering box you sent me.
I have a 2008 Dodge 3500 6.7 that has been suffering with horrible steering issues. Lots of play, power steering surge/bumping, truck wanting to steer itself etc.. etc.. After a huge amount of time spent in forum research I decided to give your steering box a try. Wow what a nice piece of workmanship you did. I installed the steering box and now my truck drives better than new.

Ordered this gearbox and couldn't be more happy with it. I coupled it with a gearbox brace and now my truck steers better than ever. After a pretty easy install that took me and my buddy about an hour or so, my truck is no longer a danger on the road.
