I have never taken the time to review a product! This is the exception , the REDHEAD steering box surpassed my expectations. My old truck has become fun to drive overnight. Staff at REDHEAD are super awesome and know their stuff. This is the best money I have spent on my truck. Thank you for making an awesome product.

Huge Improvement overall. No more chasing a straight line Actually got 1.5mpg gain from just not wandering all over the road. Driven farm trucks most of my life, thought the wander was normal thing. Wow was I wrong, absolute pleasure to drive my Excursion again. Totally would be my firat upgrade on the next powerstroke project. Red Head steering gear showed up in less than 24hr from purchase. Took maybe 45min, aside from bleeding part.

Amazing, Unbelievable, truck literally moves with a nanometer of wheel movement. Don’t buy a refurbished one, or any other brand, spend the money, do it once, you will be amazed. 20yr old truck drives better than new. Thank you Red Head. BTW customer support is awesome, and if you need steering gear bolts, dealer can order.

2003 F250 7.3 Power Stroke, lifted truck never felt so good to drive until I installed a steering gearbox from Red Head. I am telling everyone that will listen to immediately buy one! It will without a doubt completely change the way you drive. I have added many upgrades to my truck but this one is by far the most noticeable. 10 Stars!!

I have a 2004 Winnebago 24’ with the Ford E-450 chassis. It has had the slop in the steering that I just could not get rid of and after several hours of driving your wore out. Alignments, rebuilt steering gear box from auto store, tie rods and tie rod ends, ball joints, new shocks, sway bar bushings, self centering steering stabilizer, and new front and rear springs! Most was needed but still no complete fix until I put the Red Head steering gear on. They said there would be no slop in the gear box and they are correct. What a Blessing it is to drive it now. I hope and pray that I can get 10 years or so. Do yourself a favor, spend a lil extra and get a whole lot more with a Red Head.

Just want to take some time to share my recent experience with this company. I couldn't possibly be any happier with your product. I have a 2001 Ford Excursion. Typical ford steering play. Did my research to see my options. At first, the cost of Red Head's steering box made me nervous but upon further research and reading more, I realized that the factory ford steering box was just crap engineering and design even from the factory. You guys at Red Head did it right and I am grateful. It worth every penny.
Tim the tech was also so very helpful over the phone with support.

My 2000 F350 4x4 Dually was a wild one,, I got scared to drive it as the cops would follow me around watching for DWI reminders... I knew box was worn and the front end was all new,,,, I bit the bullet and got a Redhead and had it put in... 50 mile test drive brought nothing but smiles... It drives as well as my 2019 dually 4x4.... Worth the price?.. Yes it is..My 19 gets a rest now...... Thanks Redhead.. Unbelievable rebuild

I bought a redhead about 10 years ago and it has been awesome. Beautiful work this company does. Just noticed yesterday I have about 2 inches of play in the wheel so after crawling around checking it looks like the bottom bearing or something internal is starting to wear as the sector shaft and pitman arm are moving left to right when checking the play out but after 10 years in Pennsylvania with these roads and 200k miles t's held up great. I'll be ordering another one shortly.

Awesome Gearbox. I should have bought one a year ago when I was rebuilding the front end of my F350 4x4 Dually. I went through two boxes from napa before buying a RH. I had 1 1/2” of play in both directions with both napa gearboxes. I should have done my research first and bought one from RH. Don’t buy the so called rebuilt gearboxes from anyone. Spend the $$$$$ on an outstanding product, it’ll save you time and $$$$$ in the long run. My truck drives great now for having 190K miles and 19 years old. No more death wandering going down the road. I would definitely recommend RH to everyone who needs a new gearbox to order one from Red-Head.

I had 1 1/2" of steering play and have been putting up with it for far to long. I ordered the Red Head gear for my truck did the install, and followed their bleeding instructions and it came out perfect. I am really impressed, I have 0 play and my truck is like the day I bought it. Their price may be a bit high for some people but it is worth it considering they rebuild the steering gears to better than OEM Specs, and utilize their own tighter tolerance Ball Bearings and machine the OEM parts to their specs. Their customer service is great as well, you won't be disappointed with them. They have my future bus. and referrals to friends. Thanks guys

I have a 2001 F250 7.3. Had it since 80K 6 years. Never drove well. Had steering box installed when I first bought it. Still wandered all over the road. I had a terrible experience with 2 new diesel trucks from GM and Ram. Sold those and decided to install a Redhead on my 7.3. It is awesome, drives like my 2016 F250 Platinum I should have kept. I am done with buying new trucks and love the way my 7.3 drives, no slack, smooth turns, returns to center.

2001 f250 super duty with typical steering slop, over a year fighting the loose steering and 2 Napa boxes installed with no change, installed the red head gear and slop is gone with perfect steering, I couldn't be more happy, these guys nailed it!

I've been dealing with loose steering on my 2000 F350 ever since I bought it with 290k miles on it. The PO said he'd replaced the gear and couldn't get the slop any better. I replaced all steering components, and while the steering got noticeably better, it still had more slop than I was comfortable with. I researched for a long time, and decided to finally buy the Redhead even though the price was a bit on the scary side. Once installed, all of my steering slop went away. I can't say it drives like my 2016 sedan, but it definitely drives as good or even better than it did new. That's saying something for a truck with over 310k miles on it.

3 Napa boxes in a month made me call redhead. I didn’t want to do that job again! It’s 4 years and 50,000 later and the truck drives so straight. It’s effortless driving this heavy beast in so cal traffic. Now to order one for my excursion I just acquired.

2002 F350, 4x4, Crewcab, 7.3 Powerstroke. This truck had almost 200,000 miles before I finally broke down and bought a redhead gear. I've been dealing with loose sloppy steering for the last 75k miles. The gear arrived well packaged and undamaged. Installation was pretty simple with the right tools. The improvement was night and day. If you follow the directions provided with the box bleeding and purging is no problem. This is not your regular auto parts steering gear, its well worth the price. Thank you Redhead!

I have to say for the price I was expecting a little more than I received. I had to take a file to the spline for the steering shaft before installing since the teeth looked like they had pliers on them a few times and wouldn't slide on my steering shaft. After getting the box installed I was pleased it does steer very easily. The main reason I went with read head over another was to reduce steering play since they are supposed to be the best. Honestly I also expected the steering to be tighter than it was compared to mine with 195k miles on it. I know the front end of the truck is tight and the only play is coming from the steering box itself. I will say it was an improvement over my stock worn out box but I cannot say if it was worth double the cost of OEM.

Just want to take a brief moment to share my recent experience with this company. In short....I couldn't possibly be any happier with your product. 2001 Ford Excursion. Classic ford steering play. Did extensive research to weigh my options. At first, the cost of Red Head's steering box kinda made me look away. But....upon further research, reading and deeper digging, I realized that these factory ford steering box were just.....inferior in engineering and design....from the factory. What Red Head has done by designing/engineering/improving on factory design is.....brilliant....and VERY EFFECTIVE. You guys did it right and I am INCREDIBLY grateful. Did it cost me significantly more to go the Red Head route? Yes. Is it worth every penny? HELL YES!!!
